pintpoint yorker and that's all over for Zimbabwe. Afghanistan wrap up a 45-run victory and win the series, with a 2-0 lead. The yorker was right on the base of off stump and Muzarabani had no answer for it
Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe, 2nd T20I at Abu Dhabi, AFG v ZIM, Mar 19 2021 - Match Result
Presentation time:
Asghar Afghan: It's good to win both games so our morale is high. We have different plans depending on the wickets we lose, so today Karim and Ghani played really good.
Nabi is the Man of the Match for his 40 off 15 and 2 for 20: The position at that time (when I went to bat) was only five overs left and there was a spinner now so it was good. The pitch is very good for batting, we needed that score for the team otherwise 160-170 was chaseable.
Williams: Very disappointed obviously. I thought we started off well. Opening from our bowlers was really good but those two overs for more than 20 runs hurt us. And losing four wickets in our powerplay was also a big blow. We need to look at our shot selection, it wasn't good and we need to look at things. It's important how you get back up, winning from here will be a huge change for us. It's been discussed (me or Raza opening), it's a possibility we'll have to see how that goes. We have to see some power hitting especially at the end of the innings.
That's all we have from this game, there's one to go tomorrow so don't forget to join us for that. Until then, it's goodbye and good luck from Vishal Dikshit, and Binoy George. Firdose's report will be up here anytime...
5.20pm By 48 runs in the first T20I and now 45 runs in the second game today, two comprehensive wins from Afghanistan to take this series home, with one game left tomorrow. It was Karim Janat's batting show that set up the platform for Nabi's cameo in the end for another near-200 total. Ngarava was the pick of the bowlers today, with his powerplay spell of 2-0-3-1 before he leaked a few in the end. Zimbabwe, in the chase, saw a lot of soft dismissals in their chase, otherwise they had put on 54 in the powerplay but for the loss of four wickets. Ryan Burl had a really good day against Rashid Khan (21 off 10 balls with three sixes) during his 40 off 29 but that only delayed Afghanistan's win as the asking rate rose. We'll have the presentations coming soon...
misses the reverse sweep and loses his off stump! Straight-is quick delivery on off, he goes for the reverse and misses it completely to be the third wicket of the over
horrible mix up as Muzarabani is nearly all the way down the pitch for a single as the ball goes to short fine leg, but Tiripano isn't moving! There's confusion, Muzarabani turns back and is eventually saved by a wayward throw
another six off Rashid! Short ball, rocks back and pounces on it and clears deep midwicket
two wickets in three balls from Rashid and Bavuta holes out to long-on! It wasn't quite the length to be swept but he went for it, that too down the ground and couldn't send it too far
short and pulled, reaches deep midwicket after a couple of bounces
Rashid to burl today: 21 runs off 10 balls, three sixes and a wicket
and Rashid has the last laugh as Burl holes out to deep midwicket. Pitched up slightly outside off and Burl goes for another slog-sweep, can't get the distance this time and he's caught well inside the boundary
Rashid to Burl, it's been an exciting contest today
Hamid: "Zim still not too far behind the required rate.... Anything is chasable when it is down into thirties... " they don't have any batsmen left though
lack of pace again outside off and Burl pulls it to deep midwicket, and keeps strike
comes down again and pulls with hard hands from outside off as Janat replied with a short ball, bottom edge not far from the stumps and he gets one
slower ball down the leg side for a wide
crashed through the covers this time! Dances down and swings his arms with a full follow through to dispatch that in the gap, cracking shot
it's the paddle from Tiripano and he just beats a leaping short fine leg for four! He moved across across, so fine leg is up and still ended up playing to him, but it went just over him
low full toss again, driven down hard to long on
Around the wicket to Burl
he tries the yorker as well, and Tiripano gets the toe-end of the bat for a single
Janat for this third now
another attempted yorker and it's drilled down to long off for one
low full toss outside off, driven down to long on
drives to cover with hard hands and takes off for one
too short and Tiripano smashes that with an elegant pull off the back foot, and beats ong-on for four
excellent yorker there which Tiripani blacks out
Around the wicket to right-handed Tiripano
pulls the short ball to deep midwicket for one
Fareed retunes for this third
