leading edge to short third man and Jonassen gets five! Tossed up, drifting across Sharma, she came down and tried to launch over long on against the angled, the leading edge floated to Haynes at short third man and she holds on easily!
AUS Women vs IND Women, Final at Melbourne, Women's Tri, Feb 12 2020 - Match Result
Australia win the tri-series final by 11 runs. India needed 41 from 35 balls with seven wickets in hand and lost 7 for 29 with Jonassen taking a career-best 5 for 12. Mandhana had played beautifully and looked in control until she holed out to deep midwicket and the rest folded under the pressure of the chase. Australia win the series but India and England have proven that the margin between the teams heading into the T20 World Cup next week is pretty tight. Australia and India only made the final on net run-rate and India were in control in that chase but made some mistakes late to lose the game.
Presentation Jess Jonassen is player of the match for her 5 for 12.
Jonassen: "It was nice to have an impact on the game. I was lucky to come in on the back of some great work by the other girls."
Beth Mooney is player of the series.
Mooney: "We spoke early in the day that 140-150 was going to be defendable. It's nice to be hitting the ball well going into the World T20."
Harmanpreet Kaur: "I think it was a great game and great learning for us. We're getting confidence playing against Australia. Unfortunately we weren't good enough over the last few overs."
Meg Lanning: "I thought it was a good all round performance from us. We were put to the test by India and I'm pleased we came out on top. Jess Jonassen was outstanding."
That concludes our coverage of the tri-series. The women's T20 World Cup starts next Friday in Sydney with these two sides going at it again in the opening game. Hope you can join us then. Thanks for your company today.
