Carmichael picks up another boundary as he drives the ball through extra cover. The ball races away from the fielders chasing it
Warriors vs Knights, 12th Match at Belfast, INTER-PRO, Sep 07 2023 - Match Result
With that the rain starts to come down heavy and the Umpires take the players off.
The covers are being taken out quickly, and I'm hoping that the rain will blow through as quickly as it came. Until the Knights Innings gets to 20 overs, we do not have a game.
We have just heard some thunder as well, I'm sure that the Leinster Lightning will be hoping that the weather lets us get back out again.
Match State: Delay
Match State: Delay - Due to Rain
3:47pm The good news is rain has stopped, so it's down to the Umpires now on when we can get going again. There are still plenty of dark clouds around the ground, although hopefully we can escape without any more rain.
and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I finish typing the message, the rain starts pouring down again and the covers start being put back on again.
Looking at the weather forecast, the rain is due to be here for about an hour and then clear away. Lets hope that it stops sooner then that!
4:14pm The rain has started to ease here and the blotter is out there starting to take some of the water off the top of the covers. The rain did fall heavy, so it might take a while for us to get going again.
The spare 30 minutes that we had has gone, so we are starting to lose overs here. Will let you know more when I get some information.
4:55pm The good news is that the rain has stopped and the Umpires have been out to inspect the ground. The ground staff haven't started to work on the covers ye.
We have been told that the cut off is 6:15pm, which will give us the time to get the remaining 11 overs in that we need for this officially to be a game.
Will keep you updated as things progress.
Match State: Delay - Wet oufield
5:40pm Bad news I'm afraid. The ground just isn't drying and the Umpires have been out to inspect and have decided that there will be no chance of further play today. What a shame.
Even though the rain didn't fall for that long, it was quite heavy and even though the blotter has been out working on the covers, there are still some very wet patches out there. Both Captain's have had a lookand shook hands.
The no result means that both teams will pick up two points and that will move the Knights one clear at the top of the table and make them the IP50 Champions.
Not the way that they would have wanted to be confirmed as Champions, but as Mark Adair gets ready to receive the trophy, I'm not sure that the Knights will care.
Which means that the Knights do the double this season. Congratulations to them.
Thanks for following along with the commentary today, and for the whole season. I hope that you've enjoyed it. Hopefully you'll be back next season too. Until then, this is Justin Smyth saying goodbye from Stormont.
