oh, that's a bouncer down the leg side for a wide! The umpires wait for a few seconds and it's obviously a wide, it's that far down the leg side. Vince looks back at Tye immediately after it goes past him and gives him a blank stare, probably wondering why he did that. At the end, the Sixers are in the final for the second season in a row
Scorchers vs Sixers, Qualifier at Canberra, BBL, Jan 30 2021 - Match Result
Sixers won by 9 wickets (with 18 balls remaining)
10.24pm It's a clinical win for the Sixers, what a season they're having. Vince gets a lot of handshakes and taps on the back from opposition and his team-mates. It's now confirmed that the Sydney Sixers will host the final at the SCG. The Sixers players come out on the field and thank the crowd, they've been on the road this season and will be happy to head to the SCG for the final.
They dominated most parts of the game tonight, right from the first few overs to the entire chase in which Philippe and Vince took on the bowlers from the very first overs. Richardson and Behrendorff leaked runs early which meant the Scorchers didn't have many options to fall back on. It was only the clean hitting of Inglis that gave the Scorchers some hope when they batted, otherwise they had a pretty underwhelming day, including some sloppy fielding. But they have another chance, they'll take on the winner of Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder in the Challenger on February 4 at the Optus Stadium. And the Sixers now have a week's break before they play the final. That's all from me, Vishal Dikshit, today. Do tune in again for the match tomorrow, between Heat and Thunder on the same ground at the same time. Goodbye and good luck!
James Vince: We weren't quite sure of the conditions early in the chase. We got a good first over with the bat, a few boundaries. I love batting with him (Philippe), he gets the pressure off me. Ya, two more would have been nice but it's nice to go unbeaten. Only he will know (if the wide was intentional from Tye). A hundred would have been nice but happy to be there and in the grand final. It's amazing for us to get back to SCG after being on the road for so long. We've had some games that were straightforward and some were tight to get over the line.
Prasu: "SS reminding me of TKR in cpl, much stronger in the league than any of their opponents "
Andrew Palmer: ""Big cheer from the crowd". Can you remind us in the UK what a "crowd" is again?" It's something like people sitting in their own houses and watching the TV
Where will he go for the boundary? Tye runs in
rising short ball jut outside off, and Hughes drops his hands to let this go outside off. Big cheer from the crowd
he's going for the dots - low full toss on off, and he gently taps it to cover
right in the block hole, Hughes blocks it out
Three dots if Vince wants a century
short and pulled for four! Rising short ball from Richardson, Hughes hooks and sends that crashing between fine leg and deep square leg
little too full again, and driven straight to cover this time
that's been drilled down the ground over the bowler's head for four! Too full on off stump and smacked back by Vince
10 to win, seven for Vince's century. And the Power Surge is taken. Richardson comes back
comes down to take it on the full and drives it uppishly past cover in the gap, before Tye cuts it off in the deep
nearly in the block hole around off, Vince drives it down to the left of long off for one more
too full on off, driven down to long off easily
too short with a hint of turn around middle and leg, worked to deep midwicket for one
length ball on middle, Hughes makes room on leg to drive and gets a thick inside edge to leg for a quick single
goes back in the crease and tucks it to leg for one
17 left now, Vince on strike on 90
short and rising ball outside off, Hughes goes for the upper cut and misses
full toss on the pads, flicked to square leg for one
slapped off the back foot this time, it's gone to Livingstone again at deep cover and this time he does well to tumble to his right and keep it to two
through deep cover yet again! Vince slashes at the back of length ball off the back foot, Livingstone goes to his right and gets to the ball but that's gone through him! Sloppy
120kmh, slow and full, Vince has no problem in driving that straight and high down the ground with the mid off in the circle
outside off, Hughes drives that uppishly to deep extra cover
Just 29 more
pretty straight outside off, he slices it straight to short third man
