Will Fraine, a top-order batsman, played for Nottinghamshire in 2018 before signing a three-year deal with his native Yorkshire, where he had played age group cricket. A maiden first-class hundred followed in his first season, against Surrey at Scarborough, although he struggled to pin down a spot in the first team. He did, however, serve a reminder of his potential in 2022 with an impressive 143 from 107 balls against Northamptonshire in the Royal London Cup.

Fraine made his first-class debut for Durham MCCU against Gloucestershire, playing four first-class games in all while he completed a degree in Sport, Exercise and Physical Activity. He added 11 matches across three formats for Nottinghamshire, without managing a half-century, before attracting the attention of Yorkshire as they looked to rebuild.
