Second One-Day International

Pakistan v Zimbabwe 1998-99

At Sheikhupura, November 22. Zimbabwe won by six wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe.

Victory with nine overs in hand enabled Zimbabwe to square the series - and show it was no fluke that they had squeezed Sri Lanka out of a one-day final in Sharjah a few days earlier. Johnson stroked his way to a maiden international hundred, including 13 fours; he and Grant Flower opened with 101 in 18 overs, and Johnson was finally bowled with only three runs to go. Put in, Pakistan managed a disappointing 211 - but it would have been far worse without a stand of 57, in nine overs, between Hasan Raza and Saqlain Mushtaq, a record for Pakistan's ninth wicket at this level.

Man of the Match: N. C. Johnson.
