†WEST INDIES v ENGLAND 1980-81

At Berbice, Guyana, February 26. West Indies won by six wickets. Played in an atmosphere of uncertainty as to whether the Guyana government was about to revoke Robin Jackman"s visitor"s permit, the match provided little incident and a comfortable victory for West Indies. England, put in, were always struggling, and their total was clearly not enough. It briefly looked more imposing when West Indies lost Greenidge - to a fine piece of fielding by Butcher - and Richards for 11, but a stand of 74 between Haynes and Mattis put the result almost beyond doubt and another partnership between Lloyd and Gomes settled it.
