Jan 2: Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers, Brisbane

Pro Tip: The wicket in Gabba has been bowler friendly recently with scores of 160-plus has been scored only twice by the side batting first in the last 11 attempts. Make sure you have more bowling options.
Our XI: Max Bryant, Jack Wildermuth, Lewis Gregory, James Bazley, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Josh Philippe, Daniel Hughes, Daniel Christian, Carlos Brathwaite, Steve O'Keefe, Ben Dwarshuis
Substitutes: Xavier Bartlett, Sam Heazlett, James Vince, Jordan Silk.
Player availability: Jason Holder will not be available for the rest of BBL10.
We might not always be able to tip you off about late injury (or other relevant) updates, so please finalise your team after the toss.
Captain: Daniel Hughes
Hughes has certainly relished the captain's role for Sixers in BBL 10 and has shown great form with the bat. He is the joint-second leading run-scorer with 185 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 141.22. His 96 (51) against the Stars recently is the highest individual score in the league this season.
Vice-captain: Jack Wildermuth
Jack Wildermuth is one of the safest options for a vice-captain role having not gone wicketless in his four innings yet. He has picked up six wickets at an incredible economy of 6.25. He is handy with the bat too which was evident from his 11-ball 31 earlier in the season and there is good chance he will bat up the order too.
Hot Picks
Mujeeb Ur Rahman: The Afghanistan spinner produced the Heat's best bowling figures in his last outing with a 5/15 against Hurricanes at this same venue. Ever since his debut in BBL 08, he has been a revelation picking up 22 wickets in 22 games, even bettering the likes of Mitchell Swepson (18 wickets in 22 games)
Steve O'Keefe: One of the most experienced spinners in the league has been using all his experiences and producing match winning spells for Sixers recently. He has picked up 14 wickets in his last nine games at an average of 14.71. Against a team which has been struggling against spin, he is a must pick.
Daniel Christian: Another BBL veteran who has hit the top form in this edition of the league is Christian. He has picked up six wickets at an average of 20.83 and has scored 93 runs at a strike rate of 226.82. His 16-ball 50 against the strikers earlier in this season is the second fastest fifty in BBL history and it helped him with the man of the match award too.
Differential Picks
Carlos Brathwaite: Brathwaite has been an exceptional bowler in the BBL, with 18 wickets in 12 games striking once every 13.8 delivers and has gone wicketless only twice. Though his batting skills have not yet come to the fore, he is more than handy in the lower-middle order and as a finisher.
Ben Dwarshuis: The prolific left arm pacer started the tournament with a bang, getting a three and a four-wicket haul in the initial two games. However, in the last three games, his form has dipped a bit and is due for a big game. The wicket at Gabba is likely to assist his bowling.
Alternate Scenarios
  • Xavier Bartlett who has picked six wickets in four games so far can replace James Bazley.
