New Zealand v Sri Lanka, 2006-07
Don Cameron
15-Apr-2007
At Hamilton, January 9, 2007 (day/night). No result. Toss: New Zealand.
Persistent rain at a sodden Seddon Park washed out this game, leaving the one-day series - like
the Tests and Twenty20s - all square. Although no play was possible, the toss was made and the
teams named, which meant, under ICC regulations, that the match counted in the records. Sanath
Jayasuriya thus "played" in his 375th one-day international, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's then
record, while Billy Bowden became the eighth umpire (and the second New Zealander, after Steve
Dunne) to stand in 100 one-day internationals - though he never had to stand at all.
