Stuart Broad's career highlights in pictures
Stuart Broad made his England debut in 2006, but his first two years in international cricket are best remembered for the six sixes Yuvraj Singh hit off him in an over in Durban in the 2007 T20 World Cup.•Getty Images
Broad offered batting value to his side as well. In August 2010, he made 169, which remains the second-highest Test score from No. 9. Overall, he made 13 Test half-centuries, including batting for over three hours for 65 to set Australia at target at Trent Bridge in 2013.•Clive Rose/Getty Images
Kumar Sangakkara, Dinesh Chandimal and Shaminda Eranga were the victims in Broad's second Test hat-trick, at Headingley in 2014.•Ben Radford/Corbis/Getty Images
In a thrilling draw in Christchurch in 2018, Broad combined with Anderson to take all ten New Zealand wickets in the first innings - Broad's six to Anderson's four - then nearly got a hat-trick in the second after snagging Kane Williamson and Jeet Raval off successive deliveries. It wasn't to be, but he finished with match figures of 8 for 126.•Getty Images
Before 2019, Broad had dismissed David Warner five times in Tests. Since August 1, 2019, he got the Australia opener no less than 12 times in 13 matches, putting him firmly on top of Broad's list of bunnies. Unfortunately Broad wasn't able to replicate the feat in his final Test.•CA/Cricket Australia/Getty Images
However, it was evident from the start that he was the kind of bowler who would win you matches. He took his first Test five-for in Kingston in February 2009, and later that summer was England's leading wicket-taker in their 2-1 win in the Ashes at home.•Mike Hewitt/Getty Images
Two Tests later, in Chester-le-Street, Broad helped England make it 3-0 In the 2013 Ashes with an 11-wicket match haul.•Gareth Copley/Getty Images
A year later, facing Australia, at Trent Bridge again, Broad took career-best innings figures of 8 for 15 to blast the old enemy out for 60 on day one. England went on to win that series 3-2.•Getty Images
Broad took ten wickets on the way to his 500th Test wicket, cleaving through a hapless West Indies side at Old Trafford in 2020. His 500th victim, incidentally, also happened to be his best mate James Anderson's 500th - Kraigg Brathwaite.•Getty Images
At Old Trafford, in the fourth Test of the 2023 Ashes, Travis Head top-edged a bumper from Broad to become his 600th Test victim. Broad became the fifth fastest, in terms of matches, to the landmark - he got there in 166 Tests.•AFP/Getty Images
Broad had some fine bowling performances at Trent Bridge, his home ground. In 2011, he took eight wickets, including his first Test hat-trick, and scored 64 and 44 in a huge win over India.•Getty Images
In Johannesburg early in 2016, he ripped out the heart of a strong South Africa side. His 6 for 17 included the wickets of Dean Elgar, AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Faf du Plessis to set England 2-0 up in the series.•Getty Images
In 2022, Broad added perhaps his least favourite record to his career - he overtook South Africa's Robin Peterson as the bowler to have conceded the most runs off an over after Jasprit Bumrah carted him for 35 at Edgbaston. •PA Photos/Getty Images
Broad finished his career as England's second most prolific bowler of all time, with 604 wickets. He also went past Ian Botham as the England's top wicket-taker in the Ashes, with 153 scalps. Only Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath have more. •Getty Images
